Week 28 – # 43 Row One

on February 3, 2013

I attended the Native American Festival at the Sarasota Fairgrounds in late January, 2013.  There were a number of Native Americans with different crafts, including herbs, drums, jewelry, food and flutes.  I walked around taking in the information from the different vendors, listened to the wonderful flute playing by Mark Barfoot and watched some dancing, including the hoop dance.
The work at Nez B’s Indian Jewelry caught my eye.  There were lots of choices in types of jewelry.   The colors and the patterns of the bead work on the bracelets was very well done.  The work is the handicraft of Niles Aseret.  He traveled here from Mufreesboro, TN.
In thinking of our themes, I saw this as fitting Row One.  (then row two, three, four….)  A lot of work goes into each and every one of these.

Thanks for the memories, Sue. I used to make these in Girl Scouts (about a hundred years ago) and I can say firsthand that this is not easy.
