Week 31 – # 29 Shot at 9:00 AM

The view of lava lake within the Halemaʻumaʻu crater inside the Kilauea cauldron.

The view of the Kilauea cauldron and you can see some of the Halemaʻumaʻu crater to the right.  In January, the lava lake rose high enough to over flow the edge of the crater.  I was just happy to see that it rose high enough so we could see some of the lava splattering.

Week 26 – #37 Stop Action

North Shore in Hawaii and add a storm = Big Waves.  This is not anywhere as big as the Big Curls of the Bonzai Pipeline when they get the great waves.  These were ONLY 15 – 20 feet.  And what a better subject than surfers to demonstrate Stop Action.

These were taken with the Sony A7R II using a 24 – 240 lens, at F6.3, 1/500th, ISO 100 – at 240 mm.  Not too bad for a mirrorless camera and especially at the distance I was from the surfer.
