The view of lava lake within the Halemaʻumaʻu crater inside the Kilauea cauldron.

The view of the Kilauea cauldron and you can see some of the Halemaʻumaʻu crater to the right.  In January, the lava lake rose high enough to over flow the edge of the crater.  I was just happy to see that it rose high enough so we could see some of the lava splattering.

Week 30 – #32 Signage

I went to a restaurant in Hawai’i called Tex.  They are famous for their malasadas. Oh my were they good, but that is another topic.  Inside this basically burger joint were these old signs.  I could not pass them up.

Week 29 – # 21 On the Water

Being in Hawai’i, I could post alot of things for this theme, but I am going with those kids surfing.  Sometimes they are on the water, sometimes above the water and sometimes in the water.  Just fun to watch.day-5-43

Valley of the Temples Memorial Park features a 1968 replica of the 11th-century Phoenix Hall of the Byodo-In Buddhist temple complex in Uji, Japan. Inside the main part of the temple is a 9 feet (2.7 m) Amida Buddha statue sitting on a gold lotus leaf.

Week 27 – #4 Architectural Details

4-architectural-details-1While walking down the main street next to Waikiki Beach, I looked up to see these balconies.

I loved the pattern and the shadows.

Week 26 – #37 Stop Action

37-stop-action-8

North Shore in Hawaii and add a storm = Big Waves.  This is not anywhere as big as the Big Curls of the Bonzai Pipeline when they get the great waves.  These were ONLY 15 – 20 feet.  And what a better subject than surfers to demonstrate Stop Action.

These were taken with the Sony A7R II using a 24 – 240 lens, at F6.3, 1/500th, ISO 100 – at 240 mm.  Not too bad for a mirrorless camera and especially at the distance I was from the surfer.
